Electrolysis

Electrolysis is a method of permanently removing individual hairs from the face or body. Today's medical electrolysis devices destroy the growth center of the hair with chemical or heat energy. After a very fine wire is inserted into the hair follicle, a current is delivered to destroy the root, the hair is epilated with tweezers.

Most areas of the body can be treated with electrolysis, including the eyebrows, face, abdomen, thighs, breasts, and legs. There are generally no permanent side effects, but sometimes slight reddening or swelling around each follicle can occur for up to a day after treatment.

IPL Hair Removal

Although often referred to as a type of laser treatment, IPL, which stands for Intense Pulsed Light, isn’t technically a laser. IPL devices use a broad spectrum of light, which is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle, causing the hair to heat up and eventually be destroyed.

Prices range from $50-$400 depending on area treated. Clients typically see a drastic reduction after just on treatment. Depending on many factors (area being treated, skin color, hair color, hair thickness, hormones) complete clearing could take 4-10 sessions.

Note: Clients with blond, red, or white hair are not good candidates for IPL hair removal. With these hair colors, the spectrum of light has no pigment to be absorbed into. Clients may consider temporary methods like shaving or waxing. Electrolysis may be used for permanent removal of these types of hairs lacking pigment.

Meet Ashley

After having laser hair removal and electrolysis treatments in college, I always wanted to learn more and get to be the one providing treatments. Though being an educator in Lawrence were some of the best years of my life, when teaching and prep were taking 14 hours a day and pulling me away from my family, I knew it was finally time enroll in electrolysis classes. In 2023, I completed the 1100 hour program at EINE Electrology/Esthetics Institute of New England.

I am a licensed electrologist, with training to perform hair removal by laser, IPL, thermolysis, electrolysis, and blend techniques. My goal is to make anyone and everyone feel comfortable and excited to begin, or continue, their hair removal journeys!

It was one of the best things I did for myself, and I’m so happy to finally be able to help others experience smooth, hairless skin!
